Bank Buildings, Main Street, Scalloway

Bank Buildings on Main Street in Scalloway is an early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay former bank that underwent alterations in the late 19th century. The building features harled walls with painted ashlar dressings and an eaves course.

The south elevation facing Main Street is symmetrical, showcasing a central four-panel timber door with a rectangular fanlight above it. On either side of the door are bipartite windows with chamfered arrises, and the first floor has regular fenestration.

At the rear, there is a single-storey lean-to addition that is also harled and has a felted roof. The building has plate glass timber sash and case windows on the ground floor, while the first floor and rear elevation feature four-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with purple-grey slate and has a mutual concrete skew-cope on the right, along with granite mutual stacks topped with circular cans.
