Description
1 Mid Terrace on High Street in South Queensferry is an earlier 19th-century, mid-terrace dwelling house with later alterations. It stands three stories high, with a basement and attic, and features three bays. The ground floor and basement windows share cills and lintels. The exterior is constructed of squared and snecked rubble with ashlar margins, and the rear is painted.
On the north elevation, which is the principal front, there is a central door topped by a 4-light fanlight. The windows are arranged in a regular pattern, and there is a central piended dormer. The east elevation has a blind gable wall with a blocked second-floor window. The south elevation features a central piended stair tower and regular fenestration. The west elevation is connected to an adjoining building.
The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate, has straight stone skews, and short rubble and ashlar stacks at the gableheads.
The interior was not seen in 2000. There is also a rubble garden wall with two doors and ashlar dressings.
