1-5 North Street, Duns

1-5 North Street in Duns is a pair of late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay terraced houses that have been joined together and feature a shop at the ground level. The exterior is finished with stugged cement render that is lined to resemble ashlar stone, and includes a base course, quoin strips, and painted margins.

The eastern house has a panelled door and a window to the left at ground level, with a three-bay shopfront in the centre and to the right. This shopfront features a glazed door in the centre flanked by large plate glass windows and a fascia. On the first floor, there are three grouped windows situated hard under the eaves. The western house has a glazed shop door and flanking windows to the left at ground level, while the right side is blank. It also has three windows on the first floor.

There is a gabled return on the western side with a window at ground level. The first-floor windows are timber sash and case, but have been replaced with PVC. The roof is covered with grey slates, features ashlar coped skews, and has a brick stack at the centre. There are modern and 19th century rooflights present as well.
