Description
139-143 Murray Street in Montrose is a late 18th century, two-storey terraced house that features shops on the ground floor. The building is constructed from stugged sandstone, which has been painted, and has plain margins.
On the west elevation, there is a central two-leaf door with shopfronts on either side at ground level. The shopfront to the left is from the 19th century and includes a low cill and stall riser, with plate glass. Above, there are three windows on the first floor, and the shopfront to the right has a swept dormer-head that breaks the eaves.
The east elevation includes a projecting addition to the right. The first-floor windows are timber sash and case with plate glass glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring a coped skew to the north and a brick stack on the party wall to the north.
The interior was not seen in 1997.
