Description
85 Castlegate in Jedburgh is a mid-18th century terraced house that was reworked in the 19th century. It is an irregular two-storey building with an attic and has two bays. The exterior is made of harl-pointed rubble with squared dressings and features a base course. There is a panelled door on the outer left side at ground level, with two widely spaced bays to the right. The first floor has larger windows that are slightly off-line, and there are a pair of Velux rooflights.
The rear elevation is regularly harled and includes a large piend-roofed tripartite dormer along with rooflights, and a garden door is located on the far right. The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there is a mutual ashlar skew to the left and a brick stack. Cast-iron downpipes are also present.
