Description
91 Castlegate in Jedburgh is a two-storey tenement building, possibly designed by Cairns and Carus Wilson, and dated 1935. The exterior features roughcast walls with ashlar margins and a cill course at the ground level, supported by a dressed rubble base course below. The entrance is highlighted by a pedimented ashlar doorcase with stop-chamfered arrises at the center, and a datestone from 1935 is positioned above it.
The building has three bays grouped together on the right side, with first-floor windows set against the eaves and the outer bays featuring gabled dormerheads. To the left, there is a single bay that includes a full-height semicircular tower topped with a bellcast roof and a finial. Each floor has three windows, which are 8-pane timber sash and case, although the lower left flat has unfortunate uPVC replacements.
The end gables have wallhead stacks, with the left side being roughcast and the right side faced with ashlar rubble. The roof is covered with grey slates. In front of the building, there is a rubble wall with semicircular rubble coping surrounding the garden.
