Description
87 Castlegate in Jedburgh is a late 18th century terraced house that has undergone later alterations. It is a two-storey building with three bays, constructed from squared and snecked rubble, featuring ashlar and cement-render dressings. There are steps leading to a modern door located at the center of the facade, flanked by broad enlarged bipartite windows with timber mullions. The first floor has small single windows, with a cloakroom window positioned to the left of the center.
At the rear, there is a two-storey wing with a piend roof on the left and a flat-roofed extension on the right. The house includes a variety of timber sash and case windows, with plate glass in both four-pane and eight-pane configurations. The mutual ashlar coped skew is positioned to the right, and the roof is covered with grey slates, complemented by a rendered stack.
