Description
6 High Street in Kirkwall is an 18th-century terraced house that has undergone later alterations. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with a nearly symmetrical rectangular plan, built on rising ground to the west. The exterior is harled, with cement block cills and smaller windows on the first floor.
On the north (principal) elevation, there is a deep-set, part-glazed modern timber door located in the central bay at ground level, with a window above it on the first floor. Each flanking bay has a window on both floors. To the outer right, there is a boarded door at ground level within a screen wall.
The house features replacement timber-framed windows with top-hung upper lights. The roof is covered with replacement grey slate, has a stone ridge, and includes a common harled stack on the east side and a harled, coped gablehead stack on the west side. The property also has uPVC rainwater goods. The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1998.
