Description
30 Wellington Street in Kirkwall is an 18th-century end-of-terrace house that has undergone later alterations. It is a two-storey building with an attic, featuring a symmetrical rectangular plan and crowstepped gables, along with a full-height lean-to addition at the rear. The exterior is harled.
On the north (principal) elevation, there is a deep-set part-glazed door located in the central bay, with a window in each bay on both floors flanking the door. The east (side) elevation has two bays, with a window in the ground floor of the left bay and a blank wall leading to the lean-to on the outer left. An attic window is situated to the right of the gable, which also has a gablehead stack above.
The windows throughout the building include two- and four-pane timber sash and case styles, as well as a timber-framed attic window with a top-hung upper light. There are three evenly spaced rooflights on the north pitch. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring a stone ridge, stone skews, and harled corniced gablehead stacks on both the east and west sides. The property has uPVC rainwater goods.
The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1998.
