14, 16 Wellington Street, Kirkwall

14 and 16 Wellington Street in Kirkwall is an 18th century, two-storey, three-bay (four-bay at ground level) asymmetrical house featuring crow-stepped gables and a flat-roofed addition at the rear. The exterior is harled, and the first-floor windows are positioned close to the eaves.

On the north (principal) elevation, there is a deep-set, part-glazed modern door located in the central bay, with a window above it on the first floor. There is a window in each floor of the outer left bay and a window at ground level in the bay to the right of centre. Additionally, there are windows in each floor of the outer right bay.

The west (side) elevation is blank, featuring a gablehead stack above and a blank flat-roofed addition to the outer right.

The windows at ground level are four-pane fixed and timber sash and case, while the first-floor windows are two-pane timber framed with top-hung upper lights. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a stone ridge, with harled, corniced gablehead stacks and cast-iron rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1998.
