Cross Keys House, Main Street, Kirk Yetholm

Cross Keys House is a late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay rectangular dwelling located on a corner site, which was formerly an inn. It is adjacent to a single-storey store to the southwest and houses to the northwest. The exterior is harled, featuring a battered base course and raised painted margins.

The southeast elevation, which serves as the entrance, has its bays grouped toward the center. There is a doorway at the center with a boarded door and a two-pane letterbox fanlight above it. On the ground floor, there are bipartite windows in the outer left and right bays, which have painted stone mullions, while a single window is located on the first floor.

On the northeast elevation, there is a single window on the first floor to the left. The sash and case windows have plate glass glazing. The roof is covered with grey slate and features harled and coped gablehead stacks on both the northeast and southwest sides. Additional details include thackstanes, stone gable coping, scroll skewputts, and a sundial on the southeast skew.
