The Hunt, 19 Newtown Street, Duns

The Hunt is a late 18th century inn, possibly incorporating earlier materials, located at 19 Newtown Street in Duns. This two-storey and attic building features five bays and is situated on a corner site. The exterior is harled with painted margins, displaying irregular spacing and regular fenestration. The first-floor windows are positioned close to the eaves, and there are tile-hung gable-headed timber dormers. The three right bays are grouped together with a pair of dormers, separated from the left bays by an apex stack. The inner left bay has a door to the right and a window to the left at ground level, with a dormer on the outer left side. The ground level has an angle chamfer.

The gable end has two bays with windows on both floors, while the rear elevation is largely hidden by adjoining buildings. The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case, with plate glass on the gable. The roof is covered with grey slates, featuring ashlar coped skews and brick apex stacks. The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1993.
