Boston House, 11 Newtown Street, Duns

Boston House, located at 13 Newtown Street in Duns, was rebuilt in 1893, incorporating earlier elements. It is a two-storey, five-bay T-plan pair of houses constructed from rubble with ashlar margins and chamfered arrises. The first-floor windows are positioned close under the eaves.

The north elevation facing Newtown Street is near-symmetrical and features five bays. There are windows in both floors of the central and outer bays. The inner left bay has a round-headed opening leading to a pend, with a modern door to the left inside the pend and a plaque reading "REBUILT A.D. 1893" above it. The inner right bay contains a modern door with a rectangular fanlight (No 13) at ground level, along with a plaque stating "THOMAS BOSTON WAS BORN IN THIS HOUSE MARCH 17 1676 ... &c." above.

The west elevation has a gable that is rendered and lined to resemble ashlar on the left side, featuring a window at the first floor. To the right is an irregular two-storey, two-bay range that is set back.

The south elevation has a blank projecting gable on the left with a truncated apex stack. To the right, there are three irregular harled bays, with a pend and three windows at ground level and three windows at the first floor.

The east elevation features a blank projecting gable on the right and three irregular bays to the left, which include a door and three windows at ground level, along with three windows at the first floor.

The building has four-pane timber sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, and ashlar coped skew to the east, which is essentially from a former adjoining building, along with brick apex stacks.
