Description

Late 19th century. 2-storey, 2-bay shop and flat. Cream sandstone, stugged and coursed ashlar to Castle Street, rubble to sides; polished dressings. Stop-chamfered arrises.

SW (CASTLE STREET) ELEVATION: gabled. 3-bay ashlar shopfront at ground; stop-roll-moulded panelled door with etched glass at centre, flanked by plate glass shop windows; band course above with shop sign. Chamfered angles at ground corbelled to square above band course. 2 windows at 1st floor; small window with eroded datestone above in gablehead.

SE ELEVATION: 3-bay. Door at centre with small window to 1st floor; window to each floor of flanking bays.

NW ELEVATION: irregular 3-bay. At ground, window to left and blocked coal-shute (?) to right. Windows to left and centre at 1st floor.

4-pane timber sash and case windows. Crowstepped gable with corbel skewputts and corniced ashlar stack to Castle Street; ashlar coped skews and rendered stack to rear. Grey slates.
