Description

47-49 Longrow in Campbeltown is an early 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay tenement building that features a shop on the ground floor. The ground floor shopfront is made of painted ashlar, while the upper walls are roughcast with droved ashlar dressings. The building has a base course, a band course, and a corniced cill course at the first floor, along with raised margins and projecting cills. There is a stop-chamfered entrance to a common stair located at the outer right. The shopfront on the left has a roll-moulded surround with large windows above ashlar stall risers, and a door that is recessed in the center, with a timber shop sign positioned above.

On the southwest (rear) elevation, the building has a roughcast finish and features a projecting apsidal stair tower with margined windows, which contains a concrete-covered spiral stair. The first floor has modern glazing, while the second floor retains 12-pane timber sash and case windows. Access to the common stair is through a vertically-boarded timber pedestrian gate with a slatted upper section, and there is a modern shop door with a border-glazed fanlight above. The roof is covered with grey slate, although the skew copes have been removed. A modern slate-hung box dormer with plate glass and casement windows is also present. The building has cast-iron gutters and downpipes, and roughcast, coped multi-flue apex stacks at the gables with battered circular cans.
