Description
18 Newtown Street in Duns is a 19th-century terraced house that has been refronted and may include earlier materials. It is a two-storey building with an attic and features a symmetrical three-bay design, with the bays grouped towards the center. The facade is covered in cement render that mimics ashlar stone, with a base course and regular window arrangement. The central entrance has a panelled door topped by a rectangular fanlight. Each bay has an unusual segmental-headed timber dormer with moulded eaves; the outer dormers are bipartite and have stop-chamfered arrises with glazed returns. At the rear, there is a gable-headed dormer that breaks the eaves at the center.
The house has four-pane timber sash and case windows, ashlar coped mutual skews, a red brick chimney stack, and a grey slate roof.
