Description
This early 19th century, two-storey, four-bay house is located at 22 Newtown Street in Duns. It is constructed of coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings, featuring a base course and a quoin strip on the left side. The house has regular fenestration, with two steps leading up to a modern panelled door that is set in the centre right bay and topped with a rectangular fanlight and a consoled cornice. An obtrusive garage door has been inserted into the right bay. There are windows to the left and on the first floor, while the eastern gable is blank. At the rear, there is an extensive two-storey addition with a piend roof. The house has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, grey slate roofing, ashlar coped skews, and a rebuilt brick chimney stack.
