Description

Royal Oak House is a late 18th-century house, likely with earlier origins, located on Nelson Street in Buckingham. It was formerly an inn and has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior is rendered over brick, with a slate roof and a brick end stack to the left. The house follows a 2-unit plan and is arranged over two storeys and an attic. It has a 3-window front. A 20th-century central door is surrounded by a moulded wood frame and a cornice hood supported by console brackets. Flanking the door are 19th-century canted bay windows. A passageway is situated to the far right. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows with moulded wood surrounds. Other details include a rendered plinth, cogged brick eaves, and two flat-roofed dormer windows. The interior has not been inspected.
