Description

13 and 14 Church Street is a house that has been converted into a pair of cottages. It dates from the mid to late 18th century but has older origins. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a plain-tile roof with a brick stack at one end. It has two storeys and attics, with an uncertain number of windows.

The entrance on the left side of the center has a six-panel part-glazed door with a moulded wood surround, which includes rosettes at the top corners and a thin straight hood. To the right of the center is a 20th-century door with a flat-arched head. The ground floor has a 20-pane sash window on the right with a wooden lintel and a tripartite sash window on the left with a flat-arched head. On the first floor, there is a 12-pane sash window on the right, a two-light casement window to the right of the center, and a three-light casement window on the left.

The building features a wave-moulded plinth with a cellar window on the left, dentilled brick eaves to the right of the center, and wave-moulded and stepped brick eaves to the left of the center. There are also two hipped roof dormer windows on the left side with two-light casements.

Inside, No. 14 has a chamfered spine beam and mid-18th century wooden chimneypieces with eared surrounds, a thin pulvinated frieze, and a dentilled cornice. It also includes a fitted corner cupboard with shaped shelves and a collar truss roof.
