Description
This is a late 18th-century house, likely with earlier origins, that has undergone alterations in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond, featuring flared headers, and has a plain-tile roof with a brick end stack. The house is two storeys and an attic, with a single-window front. It is situated on the corner of Church Street and Manor Street.
The front of the house facing Manor Street features a partially glazed door to the far left, surrounded by moulded wood and a rendered head with an incised key block. There are three-light casement windows on the ground and first floors; the ground floor window has a flat-arched head, and the first floor window a wood lintel. A cellar window sits below with a cambered arched head.
The gable end facing Church Street has a four-panel door, approached by a single stone step, with a moulded wood surround and a straight hood extending over a canted hanging bay window to the right. This bay window has 16 panes to the front and 4 panes to the sides. A window to the left of the door is blank and features a flat-arched head. Above, there is a two-light leaded casement window at the first floor, and a similar window in the attic, both with brick lintels. The corner of the building is rounded.
The entrance bay on Manor Street is rendered with incised masonry patterns, and an arch brace extends from the top of the entrance bay to the wall plate.
Inside, the house was originally timber-framed. The stone cellar contains a stop-chamfered spine beam with run-out stops. The roof structure includes a tier of wind-braced purlins.
