Description
The Old Churchyard features a pair of chest tombs dating from the early 19th century, made of Portland stone. The chest tomb commemorating Phillip Box is square, relatively high, and has plain Doric columns at the corners, topped with a gadrooned urn on a tapered base. The tomb of Thomas Ridgeway, who died in 1818, has fluted pilasters at the corners, a moulded shaped top, and inscriptions for other members of the Ridgeway family. Both tombs were previously enclosed by railings and are surrounded by York stone slabs.
