Description

Trinity House is a house that likely dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, with the front rendered and featuring incised masonry patterns. The roof is covered with plain tiles, and there are brick stacks at the ends and along the ridge, the latter having a pair of diagonal flues. The house has a two-unit plan with a through passage and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a three-window range. The central entrance features a six-panel door, with a four-panel door to the right. On the ground floor to the left, there is a 12-pane sash window, while the first floor has a two-light casement window, flanked by original four-light windows on the left and a similar three-light window on the right, all positioned just below the eaves and recently uncovered and glazed. The rear elevation, which faces the garden, showcases three tall gabled dormers that contain two tiers of windows with wooden lintels. Inside, the dining room features a stone-flagged floor, a chamfered spine beam, and a large open fireplace with a chamfered Tudor-arched bressumer. The ridge stack with diagonal flues was previously an end stack, and the roof to the right of this stack is at a lower level due to a later extension built on the site of the former passage. It is believed that this building served as the guild house for the Trinity Guild.
