39 Nelson Street is a shop and dwelling built in the early 19th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The building features colour-washed brick, a hipped slate roof, and a brick lateral stack on the right side. It has a one-unit plan and stands three stories tall with a single window range. The shop front, which is wood and pilastered, dates back to the 19th century but has been altered in the 20th century. The first and second floors have 16-pane sash windows with rendered, flat-arched heads.
