Description
The Butcher's Arms is a house that was formerly a public house, likely built in the 17th century and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure is rendered over timber-framing, topped with a slate roof and featuring a brick end stack on the left side. It has an L-plan layout, with two storeys and an attic, and a two-window range. There is a 20th-century door located to the right of the centre, with a window directly to the right and a moulded wood surround. A passageway is located at the far right. On the ground floor to the left, there is a two-light casement window, and similar windows are found on the first floor. At the rear left, there is a two-storey wing that continues with a single-storey wing. A blocked doorway in the passage has a wood lintel. Inside, the ground floor front room features a massive chamfered spine beam, while the back room has a stop-chamfered spine beam and a small open fireplace with a wood lintel. The building is reputed to have stopped functioning as a public house in 1935.
