The Workshop, Montgomery Place, Town Yetholm

The Workshop at Montgomery Place in Town Yetholm is a predominantly late 19th-century industrial building, featuring earlier structures attached to it. This 2-storey building has an irregular plan and forms a three-sided courtyard. The exterior is rendered, with stugged sandstone ashlar on the east elevation, which is the principal façade, and includes sandstone dressings, along with long and short quoins.

On the east (entrance) elevation, there is a keystoned segmental-arched entrance with deep-set boarded doors and a single window above on the first floor. The flanking bays contain windows on both floors. To the outer right, there is an earlier single-storey range made of whinstone, which has a blocked doorway with a timber lintel.

The south elevation features three windows at ground level. The west (rear) elevation includes a two-storey wing made of painted whinstone, with an advanced single-storey outhouse that is now used as a garage, and a brick gablehead stack. The building has 12-pane fixed windows and a grey slate piended roof with skylights.
