Description
Grafton House is a late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay house located at a road junction with Main Street in Town Yetholm. It features later alterations and has single-storey L-plan outbuildings at the rear, along with a single-storey piend-roofed addition to the east.
The south elevation, which faces the entrance, has a central doorpiece with a bracketed pediment. The modern panelled door includes fanlight glazing, and there is a boot-scraper to the right of the doorway. Above the entrance, there is a single window on the first floor. The left bay contains bipartite windows on both floors, while the right bay has single windows on both floors. The east addition has no openings facing the street.
The west elevation, which faces High Street, is a blank wall for the house, with single-storey outbuildings attached that include a garage opening.
On the east elevation, the piend-roofed addition is set forward at ground level, with a blank wall above. It features four-pane sash and case windows. The roof is grey slate, pitched to the west and gabled to the north and east. The walls are harled, with gablehead stacks, large skylights on the south and west sides, solar panels on the south, and a piend-roofed dormer on the north. The building also has beak skewputts.
Additionally, there is a rubble whinstone boundary wall surrounding Grafton Court.
