Description
9 Broomgate in Lanark is a later 19th-century, 2-storey and attic house that is asymmetrically planned with three bays. The building is constructed from stugged, coursed red sandstone, featuring ashlar dressings and quoins. On the left side, there is an advanced gable that includes one window on both the ground and first floors, each adorned with a cornice and moulded architrave. The gable also has a small architraved window. The roof has coped skews with a finial.
In the re-entrant angle, there is a pilastered doorpiece, and to the right at ground floor, there is another window with a cornice and moulded architrave. The first floor has two windows, both with moulded architraves, an eaves course, and a main cornice. The building features straight skews with corniced gable end stacks and includes one canted dormer with decorative bargeboards at the gable head. The roof is finished with slate.
