Description
87 Victoria Street in Kirkwall is a late 18th-century house that features two stories and an attic, with a rectangular plan and crowstepped gables. The main elevation is cement-rendered and lined, while the sides are harled.
On the east (principal) elevation, there is a window in the center bay at ground level, and to the left of this is a modern part-glazed door with a rectangular fanlight above it. Above the door, there is a window on the first floor. The outer right bay has a window on each floor, and the penultimate bay to the right also contains a window on each floor, with an additional window at ground level in the outer right bay.
The north (side) elevation has an attic window to the left of the gable, with a gablehead stack above it. The south (side) elevation features an attic window to the right of the gable, also with a gablehead stack above.
The house has 12-pane timber sash and case windows and rooflights on the east pitch. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a stone ridge, along with harled, corniced gablehead stacks and uPVC rainwater goods. The interior was not seen in 1998.
