Description
86 Victoria Street in Kirkwall is a mid 18th century, two-storey, three-bay (four-bay at ground level) symmetrical house that has been converted into a tea shop on the ground floor. It features central twin entrances at the ground level and is adjacent to Number 80, which is listed separately. The main elevation is harled, while the southern side is constructed of random rubble.
On the principal (west) elevation, there are part-glazed timber panelled doors with letterbox fanlights in the central bays at ground level, with a single window above on the first floor. Each flanking bay has a window on both floors.
The southern side elevation is blank and has a gablehead stack. The first-floor windows are two-pane timber sash and case, while the ground floor windows are twelve-pane timber sash and case. The roof has been replaced with grey fish-scale tiles and features a stone ridge, stone skews, and a corniced gablehead stack on the southern side. The northern gable, which abuts Number 80, has a crowstepped design. The property predominantly uses cast-iron rainwater goods.
The interior was converted to a tea shop in 1998, and the upper floors are currently unseen.
