79 Victoria Street, Kirkwall

81 Victoria Street in Kirkwall is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey, five-bay small terrace. It consists of a three-bay symmetrical house (Number 81) on the left (south) and a two-bay asymmetrical house (Number 79) on the right (north). The exterior is harled with painted cement margins around the openings and features an eaves course.

The principal elevation shows the three-bay group on the left, which has a deep-set modern timber panelled door in the centre bay at ground level, accompanied by a large rectangular fanlight above. There is a sandstone panel above the door that may have once displayed initials or a date. Each bay has a window on the first floor above, with additional windows at each floor flanking the central bay. The two-bay group on the right features a deep-set modern timber door with a large rectangular fanlight in the left bay at ground level, while the right bay has a window on each floor.

The north and south side elevations are blank, with a gablehead stack above. The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case types, with six over single pane windows at ground level. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring a stone ridge and stone skews. There are harled corniced gablehead stacks on both the north and south sides, a similar common ridge stack, uPVC gutters, and cast-iron downpipes.

The interior was not seen during the last assessment in 1998.
