Description
21 Hill Street in Irvine is an early 19th-century, two-storey tenement situated on a corner site with sloping ground. The building is constructed from squared rubble, featuring ashlar and droved ashlar dressings, and is painted. It has quoin strips, painted margins, and an eaves band.
On the ground floor, there are five openings: a central door accessed by steps, flanked by windows, with an additional window in the outer bay to the right and a broad door in the outer bay to the left. The first floor has three windows that are nearly regularly spaced. The return elevation facing Bridgegate includes two widely spaced windows at the ground floor and a broad stack at the gable head. There are also additions to the rear.
The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case style, and the roof is covered with grey slates, featuring an end stack.
