Description
1-3 Bridgegate in Irvine is an earlier 19th-century, three-storey classical end of terrace tenement that includes earlier fabric and features commercial premises on the ground floor. The building is constructed of painted ashlar and has moulded margins, an eaves course, a cornice, and a blocking course.
On the Bridgegate elevation, the building has three bays, with a modern corner shop occupying the left bay at ground level and a single window in the right bay. The upper bays have regular fenestration, although the outer left bay and the centre window on the first floor are blinded.
The High Street elevation consists of two bays with a shop on the ground floor. The first floor features corniced windows with panelled aprons, with the right window being blinded, while the second floor has regular windows.
The building is adorned with 12-pane timber sash and case windows and has a grey slate piended roof. It features paired polygonal wallhead stacks on the Bridgegate side and an ashlar wallhead stack at the rear.
