Description
7 Hill Street in Irvine is a mid-19th century terraced house that incorporates some earlier materials. It is two stories tall with an attic, featuring a front made of stugged, painted ashlar, while the sides and rear are constructed from rubble with painted ashlar margins on the front. The house has an eaves cornice.
The front elevation on Hill Street has two bays, each with a window on every floor and a tightly fitted door on the outer left. The door is panelled and has a lattice astragal design.
At the rear, there is a stair tower that projects from the center, topped with a piend roof that breaks the eaves. This tower includes tall stair windows and flanking windows on either side.
The windows are timber sash and case with 12-pane glazing. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and there are piend-roofed, slate-hung, and flat-roofed dormers. The gable ends feature ashlar coped skews and a single brick gablehead stack.
