Description
The E U Congregational Church, located on Glasgow Street in Ardrossan, was designed by J Bennie Wilson and built around 1905. This church features a Perpendicular style with a simple rectangular plan and octagonal towers that embrace the east gable end. The exterior is constructed of red sandstone, with polished ashlar used in the recessed moulded reveals beneath pointed arches that have hood moulds. There are two small square-headed windows flanking a prominent five-light window above, which is adorned with wide perpendicular tracery, although the lower section is blind. At the gable head, there is a small vesica. The towers rise in three stages, with the upper section featuring paired louvred belfry openings and a battlemented parapet.
