Quarter Church, Limekilnburn Road, Quarter

Quarter Church, located on Limekilnburn Road in Quarter, was designed by architect John Bennie Wilson and completed in 1884. This Gothic church features a rectangular plan with five irregular bays. It is constructed of snecked rubble with polished ashlar dressings, a battered plinth, and buttresses.

The end bays are gabled, with the southwest and northwest bays showcasing pairs of lancet windows. The southeast bay has a low, octagonal, two-stage tower with a projecting, gabled porch to the east, which includes an entrance beneath a pointed, moulded head. The east gable is adorned with two small cusped lights and two tall windows above, featuring slender shafts and geometric tracery, along with three narrow slits in the gable head and cross finials. The remaining windows are lancets, and there is a small gabled bellcote.

To the west, there is a lower session-house extension. The church has a slate roof with red ridge tiles. Inside, the interior is plain, with a gallery at the east end. The property is also enhanced by gabled gate piers and well-crafted cast-iron gates and railings.
