Description
The Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 174 Queen's Drive in Glasgow, was designed by John Bennie Wilson and constructed between 1886 and 1889, with a datestone from 1888. This building is an example of Early English Gothic architecture and was originally built as a Swedenborgian New Jerusalem Church, situated on a corner site.
The church has a cruciform plan featuring an apse and a lofty nave. Its entrance front is buttressed and gabled, complete with a wide porch, tall lancet windows, and blind panels above. The transept is flanked by twin gables. The exterior is made of bull-faced red ashlar with polished dressings, and the roofs are covered with slate and red ridging tiles, including swept-roofed ventilators.
Additionally, there is a low boundary wall with iron railings along the street, complemented by gabletted piers.
