Description

St Helen's Roman Catholic Church and Hall, located at 32 Langside Avenue in Glasgow, was designed by John Bennie Wilson and built between 1896 and 1897 as a United Presbyterian Church. This tall, gothic-style building is situated on a corner site and features a nave and aisles. The main gabled front faces Langside Avenue and includes a large window at the gallery level, with flanking projections. To the left is the base of an intended tower, while a wide gabled porch on the left overlaps the projection, and a lesser entrance is located on the right. A weathered figure has been re-set in the gablehead. The church is constructed from bull-faced grey ashlar with contrasting red dressings, and most windows are traceried. The slate roofs have red ridging and swept-roofed ventilators. The low hall or session house fronts Deanston Drive.

Inside, the church is plain, featuring two tiers of cast-iron columns that support the gallery and an open timber roof.
