Description

Marlborough House, located at 26 Langside Avenue in Glasgow, is an early 20th-century building designed by Whyte and Nicol in the Edwardian baroque style. This tall, three-storey structure has a roughly L-shaped plan and incorporates the "Corona bar," which is listed separately. The building features a lesser elevation facing Pollockshaws Road, with a pub on the ground floor. The façade is made of red ashlar, with plain rendered walls above the "Corona." The ground floor is channelled, and there is a wide opening on the left with a canopy. The first-floor windows are key-stoned and round-arched, with glazing that appears to date from the 1930s. Between the top floor windows, there is sculptured ornamentation, and rusticated wide strips are present at the angles. The building is topped with a mutule cornice and has a slate roof. Additionally, there are large mullioned and transomed windows on the first floor of the harled flank facing Baker Street.
