Description
Shawlands Cross Church and Halls, built between 1900 and 1903 by Miller and Black as a United Free Church, is a late Perpendicular Gothic structure located on a corner site at 114 Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow. The church features a main gabled entrance facing Pollokshaws Road, with buttresses that rise as open-worked octagons topped with pinnacles. It includes a large open-worked roof ventilator, side aisles, and tall shallow transepts. To the east is a vestry, and there is a church officer's flat along with a hall designed by John Hamilton in 1898, which is set back and has a gable facing Moss-side Road. The building is constructed entirely of bull-faced ashlar with polished dressings and has slate roofs.
