Description

The Joe Coral Snooker Hall, located at 18 Moss-Side Road in Glasgow, was originally built in 1922 by architects Watson, Salmond and Gray as the Waverley Cinema. It is a large block with three street-facing elevations featuring red ashlar stone and some detailing from the late 17th century. The building retains its original glazing.

Notable features include a lead-domed, recessed, and curved southeast corner bay, a prominent entrance adorned with a pair of giant Egyptian-inspired columns, and a six-bay range facing Moss-Side Road, which is partially hidden by trees. The front elevation on Frankfort Street has a 1-3-1 arrangement with sculptured roundels above the inner windows, and there is an attic storey above the main cornice. The main roof is slated and tarred, featuring a large roof ventilator, while the elevation facing Bertram Street is plain.
