Description
The Post Office on Townend Street in Dalry is a mid-19th century building that is single storey in height. It features stugged ashlar stonework with polished margins. The façade includes ten closely spaced, hood-moulded Gothic sash windows, which have Y-tracery and lying-panes. There is a pair of these windows set in a shallow, advanced off-centre gable, beneath a hood-moulded blind central oculus and an apex stack stump. To the left, there is a gabled carriageway with a Gothic arch and hood-moulding, featuring chamfered jambs, with the left jamb being more deeply chamfered for half its height. The building has a moulded eaves cornice, and the off-centre and right skews are adorned with bracketed skewputts. The roof is slate and piended to the left. Adjacent to the original structure is a modern single storey Post Office building made of polished granite, which has four bays.
