Hawthorn Villa, High Street, Aberlady

Hawthorn Villa is a 3-storey, 3-bay end of terrace house built in 1868, located at right angles to Main Street in Aberlady. The building is constructed from squared and snecked stugged grey sandstone with ashlar dressings.

The west elevation features a central door with windows on either side at the ground floor, which have louvred shutters. There are three windows on the first floor, with shutters only on the left side. The second floor has three small windows that break the eaves, set within slated gabled dormerheads, and finials adorn the outer bays.

The south gable facing the street includes a 2-storey canted window with a blocking course and a decorative cast-iron window guard, with shutters on the outer lights. A small round-arched bipartite window is present on the second floor. The building predominantly features sash and case windows with a 4-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slates, and ashlar coped skews with finials are present, along with a coped ashlar stack to the east. A low ashlar coped wall encloses the front garden.
