1 And 2 Manor Place, High Street, Aberlady

1 and 2 Manor Place are an early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay flatted house, with later alterations. The house is constructed of squared and snecked stugged ashlar with a band course, raised cills, and rubble sides, and it adjoins 4 Manor Place to the east. A central door is flanked by ground floor windows; a later glazed porch with a red-tiled roof has been added. Three windows are located at the first floor, close under the eaves. A window is present at both ground and first floor levels on the west gable, with a small light in the attic. A two-storey addition, harled in finish, extends to the rear. The windows are sash and case style with modern glazing, including some plate glass. The roof is covered in grey slates, with coped skews and stacks, and small skylights serve the attic. A low ashlar coped retaining wall is situated alongside the Main Street. Number 2 Manor Place is accessed from the rear via a door in number 4 Manor Place. The property is listed in consideration of its context and historic environment. An Ordnance Survey map from 1854 depicts the building.
