Description
4 Townend Street in Dalry is a building from the later 19th century, featuring a single storey with a basement and attic. The exterior is finished in painted stugged ashlar, with a painted ashlar basement and dressings. The central entrance has an advanced pedimented doorpiece with lugged dressings, leading to a recessed semi-elliptical-headed door that includes a fanlight and keystone. This door is flanked by narrow round-arched lights with corbelled cills.
On either side of the entrance are similarly styled round-arched bipartite windows. The building has a band course at ground level, an eaves course, a cornice, and a blocking course. There are two canted dormers featuring segmental-headed upper sashes, along with a central modern box dormer. The roof is covered with slate, and the property retains its original decorative cast-iron railings.
