Description
1 Aitken Street in Dalry is a later 19th-century building that stands two storeys high and features three unequal bays. The exterior is constructed of stugged ashlar with polished dressings. The central entrance is framed by two Roman Doric columns that support a corniced entablature and a balustrated parapet, with a single window positioned above. The left bay is advanced and includes a canted window with a balustrade above on the ground floor, and a bipartite window above it. The right bay features a corniced tripartite window on the ground floor and a bipartite window above. There is a cill course at the first floor level, along with an eaves course and a bracketed cornice. The three-bay return elevation facing Townend Street has a tall mullioned and transomed stained glass stair window. The left bay is also advanced and includes bipartite windows. The roof is piended and covered with slate.
