Description
The building is a late 18th-century Post Office located on the south side of Olney Market Place. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a shallow pitched slate roof with wide moulded verges at the gables and brick chimney stacks. The facade includes a central triangular pediment that contains a segmental arch with a keystone. There is a moulded wooden eaves cornice. The building has three storeys, with a stone first floor band. The central segmental arch is framed by a wide architrave that breaks into the floor band.
On the ground floor, there are three windows on each side, fitted with modern plate glass in the original openings. The first floor has five windows arranged in a 1:2:2 pattern, while the second floor features three barred double-hung sash windows. All windows are set in plain stone architraves with keystones and moulded cills. The gable facing High Street South is made of rubblestone, and there is a two-storey rear wing that includes one large sash window on the ground floor, a carriage entry next to No 26, and two sash windows on the first floor.
