23 Matheson Road, Stornoway, Lewis

This late 19th century villa at 23 Matheson Road in Stornoway is a two-storey, three-bay building with an iron-railed boundary wall. The exterior is rendered with painted details. It features an arched doorway with a panelled two-leaf door and a fanlight, set within a pilastered and arched doorcase. The ground floor windows are canted and crenellated, while the first floor windows break through the eaves and have gabled dormer heads. The glazing is modern. The villa has end stacks, a slate roof, and a rear wing. There is a modern conservatory on the right (south) gable. The boundary wall is stepped to follow the slope and is topped with decorative cast-iron railings, with a particularly elaborate front gate.
