Description
The Aa Sentry Box (No 714) at Threapland Wood is a square-plan timber boarded structure built between 1956 and 1967, with later refurbishments. It measures approximately 2 metres by 0.75 metres by 0.75 metres and features a cross-gabled zinc clad roof with a central ventilator, sitting on a concrete base. The side and rear elevations are covered in vertical black painted boarding, and there is a rectangular panel inscribed "BOX 714" on the sides. The entrance has a flush plywood panel door adorned with a moulded yellow winged interlaced "AA" livery, which is part of a 1990s re-branding, and a weathering fillet above. Each corner of the box has yellow painted strips, and the gablets are bargeboarded, also displaying the "AA" livery from the 1990s. Backlit square name panels reading "THREAPLAND" are located on the left, and "BOX" is displayed on the front and side faces. Inside, there is chipboard flooring, a timber cupboard at the rear, and a disconnected 1-button telephone from 2002 on the right.
