Description

The Mains is an early 19th century long single-storey cottage with six bays, arranged as two sets of three bays. It incorporates a former steading that is continuous with the west gable. The building features harled clay and boulder walling, along with a boulder case course. The street-facing elevation has two doorways, one of which is glazed as a window, flanked by windows that have modern two-pane glazing. The ridge stacks have been renewed, and the cottage has a piended roof on the east gable, which is gabled at the west, replacing the former thatch. At the rear, there are two small projecting gabled wings.
