Description
The Sentry Box No 723 at Cappercleuch is a square-plan timber boarded structure built between 1956 and 1967, with later refurbishments. It measures approximately 2 metres by 0.75 metres by 0.75 metres and features a cross-gabled zinc clad roof with a central ventilator, all set on a square stepped concrete base. Each elevation is covered with vertical black painted boarding, and there are rectangular panels inscribed with "BOX 723" on the east and west sides. The door has a weathering fillet above it, which was damaged in 2003, and yellow painted strips adorn each corner. The gable ends have bargeboarded gablets with moulded winged interlaced "AA" livery from the 1990s re-branding, and each face is flanked by backlit square name panels reading "CAPPERCLEUCH" to the left and "BOX" to the right. Inside, there is linoleum flooring, a timber cupboard at the rear, and a disconnected 6-button telephone from 2002 on the right.
